10 Things to Do in October

"Oh look another glorious morning. Makes me sick!" - Winifred Sanderson, Hocus Pocus (1993)

When this time comes around we all start to get into a more festive spirit and enjoy all of the different seasonal treats, films and activities that make this time of year so special. Now in Australia it is starting to get warm/hot, and unfortunately we don't get to enjoy the autumnal joys that come when the trees start to change colours, a coolness in the air and all the shops start to decorate to the season. This being said, we do still get the PSL's and thank goodness Starbucks offers an iced version as it is way too hot for a warm beverage.

Even though we don't get that autumnal feeling here, there are still a few things that we can do to get us in the spirit that is fun. So I have come up with 10 fun thing to do to help get you in that festive mood!

  1. Have a festive drink, if that's either from somewhere like Starbuck or a homemade one. It's a great way to start off, I do have a few easy festive drink recipes coming over the next week (warm and cold).

  2. Spookafy you home and/or front porch. Woolworths selling some lovely bright orange pumpkins at the moment that you can use as decor by themselves or even if you want to have a go at carving. They have a variety of sizes, perfect for all.

  3. Put on Hocus Pocus, or any festive film that you like. On your day off, sit down with your festive drink and pop on a film. You will start to feel in the spirit in no time!

  4. Stock up on your pumpkin scented candles. Get out those delectable scents and spread the seasonal joy around your home. Bath and Body Works has released their seasonal candles so it a perfect time to stock up.

  5. Make a halloweeny playlist and listen to it to your hearts content.

"I was working in the lab late one night, When my eyes beheld an eerie sight. For my monster from his slab began to rise, And suddenly to my surprise,

He did the Monster Mash. (The Monster Mash, ) It was a graveyard smash. (He did the Mash, ) It caught on in a flash. (He did the Mash, ) He did the Monster Mash."

6. Along with your festive drink, bake up some pumpkin spiced pancakes and other

baked goodies. A great thing to do with family, friends or little ones is to decorate

some cookies and everyone can be as creative as they want.

7. Taking about being creative, why not make a festive wreath for your door? Its a super

fun activity and you can get all the supplies from Spotlight, Michaels or Hobbycraft.

8. Have a bit of fun with your Instagram, change up the colour scheme and take some

creative pics to post throughout this month.

9. Start to pickle or make jams for Christmas. This year why not be a bit creative and

make your own goodies for any Christmas get togethers and Christmas Day. If your

interested, I have a really easy jam recipie that will work for any fruit.

10. Escape the city for a well-earned staycation. Go to a winery with your girlfriend/bestie

for a girls trip, especially if you haven't seen each other in months!

What do you like to do this time of year? Are you excited for the festive months ahead?

I know I am.
